Now that we’ve decided which format of video poker to play, let’s see what the super draw 6 card poker machine is really all about.
Thanks to IGT’s multiple hand functionality, you can set things up to deal out three, five, or 10 hands on each deal. This is accomplished by replicating the standard 52 card deck of playing cards, three, five, or 10 times over, and dealing out one unique hand from each.
We’ll lean towards simplicity once again and set the game for three hands at a time, a setup popularized by IGT’s triple play video poker offering.
With three hands selected, the in game screen will show three rows of five card silhouettes or spaces, for a total 15 card spaces in the main hand area. These will be arranged with five cards in a row on the bottom, five more in the middle, and five on the top.
Additionally, because super draw 6 card poker is based on dispensing a sixth card to every hand, each row of card spaces will include a sixth space on the far right hand side of the screen. Main features of six card poker
The player can play on up to four boxes in 6 card poker, but an "open" game can only be conducted on one or two boxes. The bet on the second "open" box cannot be more than on the first box. It is possible to bet on the bonus on any box.
The minimum bet and the maximum payout are clearly stated for each game table, and there is no maximum bet. If you play more than one box, the ante amounts cannot be 5 times more or less than each other.
The player has a right to exchange one, two or five cards in 6 card poker. Moreover, he can purchase a sixth card. The cost of a purchase or replacement is 1 ANTE. If the purchase or replacement does not improve the player"s hand, he can fold and lose the ANTE.
The dealer qualifies with a pair of 2s or better. If the dealer qualifies, but the player"s combination is higher, the BET is paid according to the standard payout table and the ANTE pays out 1:1. If the dealer doesn"t qualify, the ANTE is paid only.
If the dealer doesn"t qualify, the player may decline the winnings equal to the ANTE and instead replace the dealer"s highest card. The ANTE is removed from the box as a payment for this exchange. If the dealer still doesn"t qualify after the exchange, the ANTE is not returned to the player and is not paid.
Basic rules of six card poker
Before the cards are dealt in 6 card poker, the player chooses which boxes he wants to play on and makes his ANTE. In addition to the basic bet on the box (or instead of it), the player can also make a bonus bet. With this bet, the player is betting that there will be a high poker combination (three-of-a-kind or better) in his original hand.
When playing on several boxes, the first two boxes with ANTES are considered "open" and the remaining boxes are "blind". The restrictions associated with a "blind" game are described in paragraph 15. The bet on the second "open" box cannot be more than on the first one. The larger bet is always played first, regardless of it"s position on the table.
Each table indicates the minimum ANTE and the maximum payout on it. The maximum payout on both the basic bet and the bonus bet is the same, and the player can receive the maximum win for both bets at once. The minimum bonus bet is defined by the cheapest chip allowed at the table.
Each box has the following four figures: a circle, a square, an ellipse and a rectangle. The ANTE is placed on the ellipse and the bonus bet is placed on the square. The BET is placed on the rectangle (see paragraphs 8 and 9). A special marker with the number 6 is placed on the circle when the player purchases a 6th card (see paragraph 8).
To make a bet in 6 card poker, it is first necessary to choose a chip with the desired face-value. At the beginning of the game, this chip is chosen by default, and the chip with the minimum face-value fixes itself onto the cursor. If the player wants a chip with a different face-value, he can select it by clicking on that chip with the cursor. The player can also use the scroll wheel on his mouse to change the chip"s value. After the chip is selected, the player can place a bet by clicking the mouse on the desired part of the game table and his bet will appear there. Each subsequent click adds another chip of the selected face-value to the bet. If the player wants to remove the last chip from his bet, he can remove the chip fixed onto the cursor by clicking the cursor on any empty part of the game window and then clicking on this bet.
The "clear" button can be pressed to remove all the bets from the table. If the player wishes to repeat his bets from the previous hand, he can press the "rebet" button. The "deal" button will begin the game after all bets have been made.
When dealing, the dealer places his final card face-up. After that, succesive play on boxes begins. The cards on the first box are revealed, after which the result of the bonus bet is determined. The payouts for this bet are given in table 1.
After looking at his cards, the player has four options:
- Buy a sixth card (the "buy" button);
- Exchange one, two or five cards (he must first select the unwanted cards with the cursor and then press the "draw" button);
- Raise the bet, i.E. Make the BET equal to twice the ANTE (the "bet" button);
- Fold and lose the ANTE (the "fold" button).
The cost of purchasing or replacement is equal to 1 ANTE. After making a purchase or replacement, the player has two options:
- Raise a BET (the "bet" button);
- Fold and lose the ANTE (the "fold" button).
When the final decision has been made on all the boxes, the dealer reveals his cards. If the dealer qualifies, his combination is compared to the ones on the boxes remaining in the game. If the dealer has a higher combination, the player loses the ANTE and BET. If the player"s combination is equal to the dealer"s one, the game ends in a draw and the ANTE and BET are returned to the player. If the player has the higher combination, the ANTE is paid out 1:1, and the payout for the BET is determined according to table 1.
If the dealer doesn"t qualify in 6 card poker, the player can receive his winnings on all boxes by pressing the "go on" button. In this case all of the ANTES are paid 1:1 and the BETS are not paid. The player may also choose to exchange the dealer"s card. In this case the dealer"s highest card is exchanged and, as a result, he can get a qualifying hand. This exchange is advantageous when the player has a high poker combination because it provides a chance to significantly increase his winnings. To exchange the dealer"s highest card, the player clicks on the ANTE box. After clicking on the box, the chips will darken and will be removed from the box as payment for the exchange after the player clicks "go on".
After the player has selected all the boxes that he wishes to participate in the exchange, he continues the game by pressing the "go on" button. Before this button is pressed, it is possible to cancel a request to exchange the dealer"s card by clicking a second time on the ANTE box.
After pressing the "go on" button, the game on the boxes where there wasn't a request for an exchange then ends. If there was a request for an exchange on any of the boxes, the dealer"s highest card is exchanged. If the dealer"s hand then qualifies, the final results are determined on all boxes remaining in the game. This corresponds to paragraph 10, except for the fact that in this case the ANTE is absent and it has been removed from the table as a payment for the exchange (paragraph 11). If the dealer wins, the player loses only his BET. If the player wins, he will receive the payout for BET, as well as for the ANTE (even though there is no ANTE on the table).
If, after exchanging the dealer"s card, he still doesn"t qualify, the deal then ends. The ANTE is not paid and the BET is returned to the player.
In a "blind" game, the player"s opportunities are limited. He cannot fold, purchase or replace his cards. Raising the bet is obligatory, and the BET is automatically added to the ANTE. As usual, the BET is equal to twice the ANTE.
Cards dealt to "blind" boxes are revealed after the player has made his final decisions on the "open" boxes. As in the "open" game, the player is allowed to:
- Make a bonus bet
- Exchange the dealer"s highest card.
During the hand, the player can receive promptings that remind him about the game's rules. Players can cancel these promptings using the settings.
For players' convenience, any changes made to the settings will be saved in the parameters of the player's browser. If the player finishes the game session and then opens a new one, his settings will be automatically restored.

6 to 5 blackjack: should you play or move to another game?
Blackjack is popular worldwide, and in the united states has ranked as the no. 1 casino table game for more than 50 years. It's also had the reputation as a low house edge game that gives players a great shot to win. That reputation has been eroding in recent years as casinos have adopted rules that increase the house edge.
Toughest of these is having blackjacks pay only 6 to 5 instead of 3 to 2. That raises the house edge against a blackjack basic strategy player by about 1.4 percent, and that's more than the entire edge on the rest of the game.
In a six-deck game in which the dealer hits soft 17, blackjacks pay 3-2, you can split any pair except aces up to three times, split aces only once, and can double down on any first two cards including after splits, the house edge against a blackjack strategy player is 0.62 percent.
Change just one rule and have blackjacks pay 6-5 instead, and the house edge soars to 1.97 percent.
What the house permits double downs only on two-card totals of 10 or 11, as some casinos do? Then the house edge of 0.82 percent if blackjacks pay 3-2 rises to 2.18 percent with 6-5 blackjack pays.
At that level, there are a number of casino games that give players at least as good a shot to win.
Let's explore a few options among commonly available games.
CRAPS
Not every craps wager is as favorable as 6-5 blackjack, but the best bets are worth a long look.
While playing craps, pass and come have house edges of 1.41 percent, and don't pass and don't come have edges of 1.36 percent. Right from the start, that gives you the chance of betting either with or against the craps shooter while getting a better deal than 6-5 blackjack gives you.
If you're sufficiently bankrolled, you can take advantage of free odds and reduce the house edge to less than 1 percent.
After the shooter establishes a point number, pass or come bettors can back their bet with an additional wager that is paid at true odds. If that additional bet is equal to their original bet, the house edge on a pass¬-and-odds or come-and-odds combination drops to 0.8 percent. If the casino allows the odds wager to be multiple times the pass or come bet, the house edge drops more.
The same goes for don't pass or don't come bettors. They can lay the odds, spotting the house the true odds of the shooter making his point. Laying the odds reduces the house edge on the don't pass-lay odds or don't come-lay odds combos to 0.7 percent or less, depending on the size of the lay odds wagers.
A word of caution: free odds and lay odds have no house edge, but they do involve risking extra money. If you're a $5 blackjack player and move to a $5 craps table, you can bet on pass for $5. However, adding an odds bet means at least another $5 wager. Don't bet more than you can afford to lose, even if it means settling for a somewhat higher house edge.
Place bets on 6 and 8 also give you a better deal than 6-5 blackjack, and there are no extra odds bets to consider.
If you place 8, you're betting the shooter will roll an 8 before he rolls the next 7. Place bets on 6 work the same way -- you're rooting for the shooter to roll 6 before 7.
If you win, you're paid at 7-6 odds, so you always want to bet in multiples of $6. The house edge of 1.52 percent is better than you'll find at 6-5 blackjack tables.
There's an opposite to place bets called lay bets, where you're betting the shooter will roll a 7 before your designated number. The commission usually is the amount you would win if the shooter rolls a 7.
There are casinos that charge the commission on all lay bets made, while others charge only on winning bets.
It's worth checking out. If the commission is charged only on winners, then house edges are 1.67 percent if you lay 4 or 10, 2 percent on 5 or 9, or 2.27 percent on 6 or 8. That edge on 4 or 10 is better than 6-5 blackjack, and the others are in the range of maybes, depending on other blackjack house rules.
BACCARAT
You don't need to know any baccarat strategies. You don't even need to know much about the game, other than to stay away from betting on ties. But baccarat's two main options both have lower house edges than 6-5 blackjack.
Two hands are dealt, one called the "banker" hand and the other the "player" hand. You may bet on either hand, and so may any other players at the table. Hands are played out according to a set strategy. You have no decisions to make.
House edges are 1.06 percent on banker and 1.24 percent on player, making baccarat not only a better bet than 6-5 blackjack, but the best no strategy, no extra bet play around.
VIDEO POKER
Games and pay tables are highly variable, and you do have to learn optimal strategies to get the most out of video poker. But the best games have house edges among the lowest in casinos.
It's even possible for players to claim an edge in some rare games. The 10-7-5 version of double bonus poker returns 100.17 percent with expert play. That's the same as saying a 0.17 percent player edge.
In non-wild card games, players usually differentiate them by looking at payoffs for full houses and flushes, along with straights in the case of double bonus poker. The "10-7-5" in the double bonus game above pays 10-for-1 on full houses, 7-for-1 on flushes and 5-for-1 on straights. In 9-6-4 double bonus, full houses pay 9-for-1, flushes 6-for-1 and straights 4-for-1.
Those payoffs give us a basis for comparing games. Each 1-unit difference in a full house or flush payoff adds or subtracts just over 1 percent in overall return.
Let's make a list of commonly available games with a payback percentage of 99 percent or greater -- 1 percent house edge -- and another of 98 percent or greater -- 2 percent house edge.
Any of these may be worth considering instead of 6-5 blackjack. However, understand that video poker players play much faster than blackjack players. A full blackjack table might move at between 50 and 60 hands per hour, while it's easy to play 700 to 800 hands of video poker per hour. Calculate your casino bankroll and risk accordingly.

THREE CARD POKER AND MISSISSIPPI STUD POKER
Relatively new, poker-based games usually start with an ante, then have additional rounds of betting after you've seen cards.
In such games, the house edge is evaluated in two ways: as a percentage of the ante and as a percentage of total bets, assuming you follow optimal strategy for the later wagers.
In three card poker's ante-play option in which your hand must beat the dealer, the house edge is 3.37 percent of the ante or 2.01 percent of the total action.
The situation is similar in mississippi stud, where the house edge is 4.91 percent of your ante or 1.37 percent of the total action.
If you make a $5 ante in three card poker, your average total wager with optimal play will be about $8.40, and your average loss will be about the same as someone who bets $8.40 per hand in blackjack.

The only real difference from "normal" omaha is the number of cards dealt to each person. The main rule that a player must use two cards from their hand, along with three from the board, remains the same. In six card omaha this means you must use two of your six hole cards with exactly three of the community cards in order to make your hand.
What are the best six card omaha starting hands?
In four-card omaha, you have six possible two-card combinations to make your best poker hand. In big O this increases to ten combinations. However, in six card omaha, you have a potential 15 starting hand combinations across your starting six hands.
This means that you should be looking for more than just suited aces or kings in your starting hand. Make sure that you have as many flush and straight combinations as possible, but at the same time ensure that you can be drawing to the nuts as often as possible. Why, then just read one!
Playing the flop in six card omaha
You won't know truly how strong your starting hand is until the flop. This is because six card omaha is a flop-driven game. You are looking for hands that can easily make the absolute nuts, therefore the more co-ordinated your hand is pre-flop, the more potential you have.
