Play texas holdem poker for real money online 2020
Internet gaming in the U.S. Has been legal and has enjoyed ever-widening popularity, since 2002.
Poker is the grandaddy card game of chance, and united states gaming sites can be so “game-specific” in specialty so as to be excellent for one variation on play texas holdem online while being weak on others. Play texas holdem poker, a variation on the classic game, and you’ll be learning one of the more unique poker variations, with not only community cards but the possibility, when you play texas hold em poker, of play ending several times prior to when it is inevitable. As betting can occur multiple times throughout the hand, it can be very lucrative, and it is quite exciting, so it is common for internet gamers to play texas holdem poker.
According to the popular online gaming “blog” and advice site, hold’em, the 3 best online sites for texas holdem are ignition, bovada, and intertops. I’ll talk about the particular strengths of each site below.
Ignition…”know when to fold em…”
Like some other sites, ignition will actually teach you the rules to play their options before your first hand. You can play at ignition in real U.S. Money, and they may, as they claim, have the best online gaming software of any site out there.
Ignition roots its online table card games in philosophy which perhaps best, of all sites, facilitates internet recreation of actual, physical table games. As the company expresses this philosophy on their website, “life is not a destination: it is a journey.”
The pride ignition takes in its expertise and class shows through at every level, and it is a fantastic site to play texas hold em online.
Bovada: “know when to walk away…”
Where some sites write out the rules of the game, (bovada does this as well, in fairness), bovada goes a step better by writing out a few crucial tips for how to bet. In the online text which addresses this, bovada’s rich appreciation of poker lore and milestones comes through loud and clear. Texas hold ’em runs through bovada’s blood.
Bovada is under the umbrella of bodog gaming, which has been an industry leader since 2004. Because of this affiliation, online players have access to the entire player pool of the paiwangluo network.
Bovada is a powerhouse, a potential poker proving grounds, and can be a thrilling place to play texas poker. (just be sure you can hear it when the voice in your head tells you to hold em.)
Intertops: “and, know when to run….”
Intertops has been around a while, and longevity in this business means you are doing things right. Intertops started in 1996. The site specializes in poker and is quite at home hosting texas hold em games.
Intertops has one special feature which is especially nice: you have one account for any gaming you do at the site. This means that your funds can apply at any game you engage in there, and winnings go to one locale.
The integrity of intertops games is steadfastly guaranteed by proprietary gaming software. The software guarantees a fair shake for all players within the limits of all possible outcomes.
The excitement and benefits of internet gaming have made it increasingly “HOT” since its advent in the early nineteen nineties: in 2018, it was a $50,000,000,000.00 enterprise.

Best casinos that offer table games games:
Casino hold'em online table game
Casino hold'em is a poker game variation of texas hold'em, but in casino hold'em, you play against the dealer instead of other players. This game is sometimes referred to as texas hold'em bonus poker, but they are essentially one in the same. If you've never played this table game before, watch this casino hold'em video tutorial to learn more about this great game.
How to play
For play to start, all players must put up an ante bet. Players have the option to place a bonus jackpot bet also. All players at the table, together with the dealer, are dealt two cards facing down, referred to as the player's hole cards. To play your hand, you will need to bet a wager exactly 2X your ante bet. In other words, if your ante bet was $10 and you want to play your hand, you will need to put up $20. If you decide to fold and not play, then you lose your ante (which in this example is $10). Unlike other casino games such as slots you will be required to play real money dollar chips.
At this stage, the dealer draws three cards and places them at the center of the table facing up; this is called the flop (as in texas hold 'em poker). These three cards are community cards, so everyone at the table can see and use them to complete their own five-card hand. You are now given a chance to bet again, but at that this time you can bet the amount equal to the ante. So, with the earlier example, the ante was $10, so you will need to bet an additional $10. You can as well decide not to play or fold, and this is referred to as "check". You can keep on playing regardless of whether you checked or bet.
A fourth community card is added to the center facing up; this is called the turn. Again you can bet or check. If you decide to bet, the amount will be the same as the ante. This is however your last chance at betting, as you enter the river where the fifth and final community card is revealed and placed at the center facing up with the first four community cards.
The dealer will then over his cards to reveal the best five-card hand that the house can make. The dealer will then turn to each player determining their best five-card hand. To make the best hand you can use one, both, or none of your hole cards in combination with the five community cards.
The dealer will pick out your best hand, but it is equally important for you to know what-beats-what in poker, so as to determine your own best hand and bet accordingly throughout the game.
If you have a better hand than the dealer, you will receive even money for your bet. However, if you have a weaker hand, the house wins and you will lose your bets plus your ante.
Bonus jackpot wagers
If you placed a bonus jackpot bet at the onset of the hand, the dealer will check your hole cards to see if you qualify for the bonus. The advantage to this wager is that you can emerge a winner even if your hand lost.
Normally, you will win the bonus if you have a pair or certain card combinations such as A-Q, A-K, or A-J.
Playing tips
Don't confuse this game's play with texas hold 'em poker because you are betting against the dealer in casino hold'em, which makes this game different. More so, the only hands that you probably need to fold are unsuited low cards below 7 such as 3-6 or 2-7. Players who enjoy the casino hold'em game may also enjoy other online table games that are offered by almost every online casino.

When it comes to winning real money at ultimate texas hold’em table games, having a plan helps. Better your odds with some added knowledge and a few simple tips to increase your chances of getting cash prizes. Below are four basic strategies to remember when playing:
Ultimate texas holdem odds are slightly different
Most players forget that ultimate texas hold’em is different than the traditional hold’em game. Remember, there is a 2.81% house edge on the initial bet. That is relatively low, but still, something to keep in mind.
Knowing when to call
When the dealer reveals the turn/river cards, you should make the call bet when you have a pair or better, as long as the pair includes one of your hole cards. If it consists of the community cards, it’s less likely that you have the best hand.
Raising 2x after the flop
Once the flop comes out, raise 2x when you have two pair or better. With a single pair, feel free to raise as long as you have a top pair with one of your hole cards.
You’re competing against the dealer
Keep in mind that you are playing against the dealer. That means no need to determine if another player is bluffing because it doesn’t matter!

How to play texas hold’em
Most people grow up playing draw poker, where each player holds their own set of cards. Texas holdem rules stipulate “community cards”, which all the players at the table share. Community cards set up a whole different dynamic than draw poker, so even experienced card players need to read a whole different set of casino texas holdem tips. Changes in how the game is played online mean those same players need special strategies to learn how to play texas holdem at an online casino, if they want to be successful. Let’s start with basic instructions on how to play texas hold’em.
Step 1: each players gets two hole cards
The hole cards are dealt first. Hole cards are the two face-down cards that each player gets to start their hand with. A round of betting follows the deal of the hole cards.
Step 2: the flop
After the opening round of betting, the flop is dealt. The flop consists of three cards dealt face up on the board, for the community of players. When the flop is dealt, most of the information that can be known about the hand is out there. There are only seven cards in a game of holdem, and five of them are known after the flop comes. A second a round of betting follows the flop cards.
Step 3: the turn card
The turn is a single card dealt after the betting on the flop, the fourth community card. Another round of betting follows the turn. Remember that the limits on the bets go up on the last two rounds of betting in a texas holdem game.
Step 4: the river card
The river is the fifth community card dealt. A final round of betting follows the river card, and the best hand determines the winner.
Step 5: the showdown
If at any point in a hand there’s only one player left–in other words, if everyone folds, the player still in the hand wins the pot by default. Anytime the bet comes to a player, they have the option to call, raise, or fold. Texas hold’em strategy involves knowing when to fold, because bad poker players tend to stay in hands too long. Raising a hand forces your opponent to make a decision, so focus on texas hold’em tips which teach you how to raise the pot.
How texas hold’em is dealt
If you’ve watched televised poker, you’ve seen a hand of texas hold’em played. For those who haven’t seen a live poker event online or on tv, below is an explanation of how texas holdem is dealt. Keep in mind while readings steps 1 through 4 that, in no-limit texas hold’em, a bettor can go all-in during any of the four rounds of betting. All-in puts all your chips at stake, if you do not have as many chips as your opponent in the hand.

Texas hold’em rules
Texas hold’em is the most popular poker game variation being played today. Texas holdem rules are easy to learn. Below are the key rules every player should remember when playing texas hold’em.
Rule #1: blinds and antes: texas hold’em has two types of blind bets: the big blind and the small blind. Blind betting forces the action at the table, so every pot has action, even if all but one player folds after the deal. Texas holdem casino rules do not have ante bets, so most players at a 9-seat table do not have a required bet each hand. The big and small blinds rotate around the table on a clockwise basis, usually the first two bettors left of the button. Throughout a tournament, the blinds increase in order to drive action.
Rule #2: the button: the button follows the player who is the acting dealer in a given hand. This tells who is the last acting player in post-flop streets of play. The player “on the button” thus gets a big advantage, because he or she gets to see what decisions all other players make first.
Rule #3: best 5-card hand: the object of texas hold’em is to build the best 5-card hand using your 2 hole cards and the 5 community cards. Any two can be discarded, including the two cards in your hand, though that is rare. Other players have 5 cards in common with you, so the strength of your two hole cards tend to be supremely important.
Rule #4: poker rake: in texas holdem online real money events, the house takes a rake of each pot. The poker software does this automatically, but you need to be aware of the poker rake at each website, because this affects how much you win or lose. Rake percentage is also one of the factors we use to rate online poker sites.
Rule #5: the bubble: this is the point in the tournament when players receive winnings. Like the bubble in march madness, those on the outside of the bubble lose and those who make the bubble win. When playing online texas hold’em tournaments, you need to be aware of the bubble and how it affects the aggressiveness of players remaining in the event.
Rule #6: bet limits: different variations of texas holdem poker rules exist for betting limits: limit hold’em, pot limit hold’em, and no-limit hold’em. Limit holdem restricts the bets on the pre-flop and flop rounds of betting to the size of the big blind (“the small bet”), while it is limited to two times the big blind (“the big bet”) during the turn and the river. In pot-limit hold’em, the maximum raise is the current size of the pot. In no-limit hold’em, players may make a bet equal to all the chips the player has at the table.
Texas hold’em poker hands
The traditional poker hand ranks apply in texas holdem. The royal flush is strongest, followed by the straight flush. The four of a kind is the third best hand, followed by a full house. The next best hands are the flush, the straight, and the three of a kind. Two pair are next best, followed by a pair. If no one in the showdown holds a pair or better, then the high card wins the pot.
Limit hold’em, pot limit hold’em, and no limit hold’em
There are three betting limits when playing texas holdem: limit, pot limit, and no-limit.
Limit holdem games
Texas holdem is played with table limits. In limit holdem, the amounts of the bets are set. For example, if you’re playing in a $3/$6 texas holdem game, the bets during the first two betting rounds are in amounts of $3, while the bets in the final two rounds are in amounts of $6.
Pot limit
In a pot limit holdem game, the player can bet as much money as the pot contains. So if there’s $100 in the pot, a player can bet $100.
The popular no limit games
In a no limit holdem game, a player can bet as much money as they has in front of their at the table.
If a player can’t cover a raise, they don’t automatically lose. They’re only able to win the amount that they can cover, and a side pot is created for the differences. In real life, people don’t usually lose their wives or houses just because they don’t have enough money on the table to call a bet.
Texas hold’em tips & strategy when playing for money
Most beginners will be able to hold their own with just that little bit of texas holdem strategy advice, but there’s a lot more to the game’s strategy than just that. Even understanding starting hands can take quite a bit of study and practice to figure out.
Starting hand requirements
The strength of the two hole cards you’re dealt should determine whether or not you even play a hand. The best possible hole cards you can have are a pair of aces, while the worst is a deuce seven offsuit. Pairs in the hole are often playable.
1. Suited connectors – suited connectors are two cards that can potentially generate a straight, a flush, or a straight flush. You can play them sometimes, but they are speculative.
2. Looking for an ace-high flush – having an ace with another lower ranked card can sometimes be playable, but usually only if they’re of the same suit. In this case, you’re hoping for an ace-high flush.
Betting position
The strength of your hole cards isn’t the only thing to consider when deciding whether or not to fold before the flop. Your position (relative to the button) matters too. Position matters, because it determines how many bettors play behind you, thus forcing you out of a pot after making a call or raise.
1. Early position & marginal hand – if you’re acting early in the betting round, and you have a marginal hand, you’re better off folding. This is because someone behind you might hold strong cards and raise your bet, forcing you to fold.
2. Late betting position advantage – if you’re acting late in the betting round, and you have a speculative hand, then calling can be a good strategy if you can get into the pot cheap (especially if there are a lot of players in the pot). You won’t win very often with speculative hands, but if you’re in late position, and a lot of players are in the pot with you, you’ll get a big payoff when you do win.
Post-flop betting
Once the flop hits, you have to decide again whether or not to continue to play your hand. Look at how well the flop complements the hole cards you have. Betting post-flop is situational; you’ll need to figure out what possible hands your opponents have and how they stack up against your hand.
1. Folding with two aces – if you have a pair of aces and the flop comes KK8. If the 8 matches the suit of one of the kings, you’ve got a lot of potential things to worry about. Anyone holding an ace probably has you beat. Anyone with two suited cards that match the two suits on the board has a strong flush draw. You’re better off folding.
2. Going strong with two aces – on the other hand, if you have pocket aces and an ace hits on the flop, you’re in good shape. Or if you have an ace and a king of the same suit, and the flop comes up with two more cards of that suit — you’ve got a good chance at drawing to a flush.
When you should bet, raise, or fold
Your betting strategy as a texas holdem beginner should be pretty simple. Bet, raise, or fold. Calling and checking is for suckers. If your hand is strong enough to play, then it’s strong enough to bet or raise with. If it’s not strong enough to play, save your money and fold.
1. Get hints of your opponents hand by raising – raising forces your opponent to make a decision. It puts pressure on them, which could force them to make a mistake. If not, it gives you information on the strength of their hand. Calling or checking to the opponent lets them off the hook, because they don’t have to make a decision — and you get no more information than you had.
2. To fold or not to fold – folding is an art. The best poker players walk away from a bad bet, which is sometimes the hardest thing to do in texas hold’em. Stu ungar, one of only two players to win the world series of poker main event three times, told players, “fold and live to fold again”.

The popular no limit games
In a no limit holdem game, a player can bet as much money as they has in front of their at the table.

Online texas hold’em
Online texas hold’em for real money is what the majority of people play. It’s a simple game to learn. But winning consistent money at hold’em is no easy task.
Many players making their first steps in online poker tournaments believe that their goal is to win as much money as possible in every round in order to stay ahead. But the truth is that until you reach the final table your focus should be on keeping your chips while others waste theirs.
Of course you want to win some, otherwise why play, but the idea is that in a tournament you need to pace yourself even when you’re feeling adventurous. Instead of playing by hunch or intuition you need to be really cold and calculated. What does it mean?
The nature of ring games allows us to play a bit loose. Because we can get up and leave after a nice win or come back to the table with more money after losing all our chips, we feel free to be a bit playful, take risks, and straightforwardly gamble on hands that aren’t really worth the effort.
What you shouldn’t do
an optimistic perspective is a wonderful angle to look at life. Dump it. Being too optimistic will make you chase hopeless hands – you’ll be calling and calling, but when the players who really have it going on will raise aggressively (some of them bluff, but who knows…) you’ll have to fold and lose your investment in the hand.
What kind of hands you shouldn’t be chasing? Hands that look like a start of something but most times end up in nothing, like suited cards, or a single ace or K, for example. Sometimes these hands will make you money, but most times they’ll take it away. In a tournament you’ll lose more often than not with these hands. This hopeful strategy will ware out your stack quickly.
Sometimes it’s better to fold and sit out the hand than to get into these doomed loops. You can bluff your way out of it once or twice, but it doesn’t work for the long run. The downside of folding a lot is that the game can be pretty boring. And watching all the flops, turns, and rivers going down without you can definitely result in some silly chat action…
It pays for the long run. First, because it keeps your chips from drizzling away. Second, because one of the most famous poker sayings is that you don’t play your hand, you play the other players – these breaks are a chance to observe your opponent, maybe even target some.
Don’t give in to boredom, a lot of players are tempted into risky and unnecessary all-in calls with hands that are nothing more than decent, just because they’ve been hanging out to dry for a few hands. Keep your cool and you’ll outlast many fancy and raise-happy players. It’s knowing when to fold before the flop that really separates the skilled players from the gamblers.

The history of real money texas holdem in the USA can be murky, because federal and state authorities have changed gaming laws often in the past 10 years.
Besides that, law enforcement agencies have changed policies on a whim during the same span.
With several electronic cash payment services being targeted by united states gaming agencies and others removing themselves from the US market because of lingering concern about the same thing happening to them, it’s hard for US online gamblers to know which legitimate poker sites they can make deposits to. For these reasons, we’ve tried to create a story and timeline of the best texas holdem deposit methods in the united states these past few years, while listing the current payment services and casinos which accept US players.
1961 wire act
Before we get into a discussion of specific poker deposit options, we should mention the wire act of 1961. The federal wire act was enacted in 1961 to make sports betting over the phone lines illegal. The law tried to outlaw sports bookies. For decades, it was the law used to govern and punish illegal sports books. The act was sometimes used to take down mobsters, much like they would be prosecuted for tax fraud when the feds couldn’t find other ways to put organized crime figures in prison.

Online gambling and american casino interests
When online gambling started in the mid-1990s, american casinos in las vegas and atlantic city claimed to notice a drop-off in its customer base. These casinos recognized the danger they faced from internet casino operators. As the technology became more reliable and faster, more gamblers stayed home to play their favorite casino games online. Brick-and-mortar casinos saw this as a mortal danger, so they started to lobby for anti-gambling laws to police online casinos. A strange alliance formed between casino interests and moral crusaders who found gambling immoral, as both wanted to squelch the nascent online gambling industry.
For a long time, these tactics didn’t work. By 2001, online gambling was a billion dollar industry. As online casino software became better and more people had high-speed internet access, more people stopped going to vegas or new jersey and instead played online games. When the chris moneymaker boom caused a mainstream craze for online gambling from 2003, the big online gambling companies began to make huge profits and produce commercials for their games on television, radio, and the internet to draw in more customers. This high visibility may hurt the industry in the long run, as moms and dads (and politicians) began to see what the various anti-online gambling groups had been talking about for years.
The unlawful illegal gambling enforcement act (UIGEA)
In 2006, the unlawful illegal gambling enforcement act went into effect. The UIGEA was tacked onto the safe port act of september 2006 by the republican-controlled U.S. Congress. Citing the 1961 wire act, UIGEA made most forms of cash transfers for the sake of gambling illegal. Proponents of the use of the UIGEA and the federal wire act to outlaw online gambling in america claim that the wire act covers all forms of internet gambling, while UIGEA opponents assert that the wire act only covered sports gambling.
Is the UIGEA constitutional?
Since the passage of UIGEA, the online poker industry has challenged the law in court. They argue the law is an unconstitutional invasion of privacy and, more specifically, UIGEA only covers sports gambling. The U.S. 5th circuit court of appeals has ruled that this argument is correct. But the supreme court hasn’t heard or ruled on that decision yet. And the supreme court will be the ultimate arbiter of whether UIGEA is constitutional or not, if the supreme court ever chooses to see the case.
Online gambling operators haven’t depended solely on the U.S. Court system. They took their case to the world trade organization. The WTO has ruled that the U.S. Laws against online gambling break several treaty obligations the U.S. Government had signed in good faith. The american government has subsequently ignored these rulings for years.
Once UIGEA went into effect, many online casinos and internet cardrooms left the U.S. Market. At the same time, many third-party money transfer services sprung up to circumvent UIGEA. The idea is that a casino can’t accept money for gambling from a poker player, so the poker player sends that money to a third-party cash transfer service, while that service sends that money along to the casino.
Third party processing is a murky, unclear, and gray legal area. Funds can be seized at any time, something the black friday case of 2011 has underscored to great effect. Many US lawmakers and law enforcement officials would like to score points with the public by outlawing or prosecuting online poker, but some brave souls continue to provide deposit options. Here is a list of poker deposit options along with some observations about the efficacy and the history of each option.
Specialty poker room picks
We plan to populate this section with links to our texas holdem rankings pages. Players will find their heaven here, whether they are searching for the loosest poker websites or the most trusted operators in 2018. We will also list websites that have long standing reputation and won’t backfire on you where you can place bets for as low as a quarter. In brief, you will find a lot of poker goodness in this section of the site !
Current poker deposit options in the USA
VISA and mastercard deposits
Most holdem sites for money accept deposits using credit cards issued by visa and mastercard. Read the buzz about specific casinos that might reject your credit card transactions, because casinos may want you to use other methods on occasion. Debit cards issued by visa and mastercard, such as visa prepaid debit cards and maestro debit card, are accepted.
But even if a texas holdem site is willing to accept payment via a visa or mastercard, the credit card company will often decline the transaction, especially if it’s coded as a gambling related transaction.
American express cards
Most online casinos and cardrooms do not accept or process american express cards. But if you want to use it as a deposit method, check the site at which you want to play. A few companies do accept amex as a payment method.
Gift cards as deposit options
Gift cards are not only accepted by most online cardooms, but most online poker sites love this deposit method. An increasing number of online cardrooms even offer bonus rewards for people who make deposits using gift cards, so look to see if the poker room you want to use offers gift card bonuses.
Prepaid debit cards
Prepaid debit cards are another rage with internet casinos and cardrooms. Prepaid debit cards are much like gift cards in that poker sites view them as money in the bank, even more so than credit card payments.
Western union
Western union remains a reliable payment option for american players. The fees for using western union for these kinds of transfers are higher than most other payment options, but western union is probably the most reliable and trustworthy deposit and withdrawal method available.
Wire transfer
Most poker sites accept wire transfer. Using this as a payment and withdrawal method tacks a few extra days on the process–especially for withdrawals. Also, the minimum deposited and withdrawn on wire transfer payments is sometimes higher.
Mypaylinq
Mypaylinq is an electronic pay service offered by bodog that’s accepted at many poker sites accepting U.S. Players. This service works like NETELLER or paypal does, but was designed to give US poker players specifically for use funding online poker and casino accounts.
Netpay
Netpay has been around since 1998. Netpay has offices in chicago, edgware (united kingdom), ramat gan (israel), and nicosia (cyprus). It’s an electronic pay service like any other, though you might not have heard of it. When you google netpay these days, the #1 spot goes to cornell university, which suggests its students pay tuition through netpay.
Skrill – moneybookers
If you’re wondering what the heck a “skrill” is, that’s the rebranded name of what was once moneybookers. Moneybookers is one of the largest money transfer companies in the world, owning all kinds of electronic services you’ve seen on online gambling sites. The new skrill is licensed or can operate without a license in 47 U.S. States, though their official website lists california as “license pending” and states like illinois and tennessee as “coming soon”. Skrill is also licensed in the district of columbia, guam, puerto rico, american samoa, the U.S. Virgin islands, and the northern marianas islands.
Echeck
Although echeck casinos are mostly found in canada, there has been a number of them operating in the USA market. Most of them have been indicted following the black friday events however. As such, we recommend to use echecks at canadian real money poker sites, rather than US facing, where the convenience of depositing comes as too high a risk.
More poker deposit options
Some of the online casinos that accept U.S. Players also accept diners club, fast wire, moneygram, and moneylinewallet. Others include ecocard, and entropay.
An american poker player who wants to gamble online can still find options, although the legitimate texas holdem sites are few. Those same players can find plenty of real money poker deposit options in the USA, so long as they take time to look. Research the cash transfer options you come across, although you should feel pretty safe about the methods listed in this article–so long as no more black fridays happen.
