In case of a three-reel slot, the moment the player presses the button signals the RNG to determine the three succeeding numbers in the sequence. To determine the winning combination, the player presses the spin button or pulls the lever in the machine, which then prompts the RNG to take note of the three succeeding numbers that was processed by the machine. The three numbers represents each of the reels, which then calculate the exact stopping point of the reels.

The stops generated by the computer represent the exact point where the reels will stop. Because the exact stop points are much lesser than the 32 computerized stops, the exact stop point represents multiple computerized stops. Combining the outcomes from the three reels will create endless possibilities of winning. This kind of system will greatly benefit players who are playing the current model of slot machines. The random number generator and the built-in microchip dictate a loose or tight slot machine as well as how much will be the payout in the long term. In this manner, people will have no need for calculations because as far as the determination of the outcome is concerned, they will always be statistically accurate.

Have you ever been to las vegas? Most people come out of vegas with a lot less money, but a lot of fun stories to tell. People are absolutely willing to spend money if it means they had a good time, just like people do on vacations or bungee jumping. Now, modern day casinos are using this idea to make the casino more than just a place to gamble. Las vegas makes millions with casino hotels that are full of everything an adult needs to have fun. This can include:

Restaurants - usually a collection of several places to eat to meet all levels of spending.

Spas - several spas available with masseuses and other spa services to create a relaxing environment.

Shopping - store provide another option for people to spend money, even if the prices are at a premium because of the location, the ease still makes people spend.

Bars - free and pay for alcohol is available in most casinos. On gambling floors, they will sometime give you drinks for free, because the more alcohol you drink, the less inhibitions you have to prevent you from spending money.

Gambling - gambling is a fun pastime, with machines and dealers that have made sure that the games are biased towards the house winning. However, hope is a powerful drug that keeps people playing and spending money.

Activities - many large casinos have put in things like amusement parks, water parks, and even a gondola ride within the casino grounds to keep people walking by the machines on their way to other activities.

Entertainment - las vegas is as much known for their shows and concerts as they are for their gambling. The entertainment venues and stages are usually placed on sides of the gambling floor, making sure you have to walk by machines to get to your destination. This increases the probability of gambling, especially if you have to wait for the doors to open for the show.

A casino is no longer just a place to go and gamble. It is now a place where people can go and stay in a resort-like setting, or a setting with comfort and relaxation in mind, without needing to leave. Resorts are usually the only other place where this type of combination of businesses can be found.

This has made a casino an integral part of the hospitality industry, because it contains every hospitality business, making the gambling portion only minor in some instances. Hospitality is the business of creating a positive relationship between a guest and a host.

Within a casino there are operations that deal with the gambling floor itself, but it all ties into the whole building and different businesses. The restaurants need to be available during high gambling hours and should be situated near the machines, so the gamblers can eat and gamble.

The entertainment should be available during low gambling hours, so it does not take away from the gambling, but still brings in money for the casino. Each business is like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle that has to be fit perfectly to make sure the casino runs effectively. Each business not taking away business from another but instead encouraging money spending on several fronts.

Although this means a lot of money spent by the consumer, they don't mind paying for the experience since it is no longer just gambling, it is more like a vacation. Some casinos have taken this and amped it up even more, using psychology to create even more welcoming and calming environments on gambling floors, instead of the regular garish and noisy ambience.

Now people can visit casinos and feel cozy, welcomed, and relaxed, which is its own invitation to gamble and spend money. This has increased revenue, allowing for interior designers to take on a whole new role. They have become as intrinsic to the casino operation as management has, because they are essentially staging a casino for the customer.

Modern day casinos now have a resort-like setting, or a setting with comfort and relaxation in mind, that contains every hospitality business from food and beverage to places to stay. Remember that hospitality is the business of creating a positive relationship between a guest and a host. While women account for over half the hospitality workforce there is a gap in leadership positions. This study evaluates 10,950 management positions in 972 united states commercial and native american casinos, as of december 2016. The results show women hold 35.5% of manager and above positions. Women lead in departments such as human resources, public relations, and sales and events, but lag in casino operations management. This demonstrates horizontal occupational segregation. The results also indicate women represent 46.7% of managers, but significantly less of executive leadership. Women held only 19.4% of owner, president, and chief positions .

Casino: cage operations - the backbone of a casino

The casino cashierвђ™s cage is the operational nerve centre of casino operations. As a hub of activity, it performs many vital functions on a shift-by-shift, day-by-day basis. First, the cage, together with the vault, is responsible for the custodianship of and accountability for the casinoвђ™s bankroll. This involves the daily care, control, and accounting for thousands, hundreds of thousands, and even millions of dollars. After all, this is the casino industry we are talking about, with many high rollers playing for big money.

What is a casino cage?

To break things down, all transactions involving currency, coin, casino checks (chips), customer casino markers (ious), safekeeping funds, and customer front flow money to and from the cage and its related vault in a continuous cycle. Firstly, accurate recording procedures and adherence to sound internal controls are required to ensure bankroll safety and accountability at online casinos. Secondly, the cage provides a vital communication link to the casino pit or pit areas.

Services include providing check fills and credits to table games, as requested; supplying information regarding customer credit status; providing financing tabulations of table game activities documented by the master game report form; and keeping casino supervisors advised of the relevant information required for a smooth operation.

Thirdly, the cage deals with countless customer transactions. Front-line window cashiers handle casino chip exchanges for currency; cash personal, payroll, and travellerвђ™s checks; handle customer safekeeping and 'front money' transactions; receive customer marker payment; deal with casino promotional coupons, and provide information to customers.

The cashierвђ™s job

The main job of a casino cashier is to exchange casino chips for cash whenever the players bring their chips from tables like blackjack and craps. It is the cashierвђ™s job to greet the player, take the chips, break them down by denomination and pay the player the right amount. If the total being paid out is quite high, a casino supervisor may be called to verify the payout before the cashier transfers the money to the player.

While errors rarely happen during this process, it is possible, therefore, cashiers but be diligent and efficient when they handle casino chips as you wouldnвђ™t want either the casino or the player losing out. Cashiers would need basic math skills as well as the ability to distinguish the different chips used by the casino. If the casino makes use of slot machines that require players to insert coins, the cage and cashier will also have to accept and exchange these coin buckets.

The coins are taken to a coin sorter with the player in attendance, where the coins are counted. The total amount will be shown on the machine reader, and the cashier must pay this amount to the player. This not only saves time as the cashier does not have to manually count the coins but also prevents errors from taking place.

Cage cashiers must also handle a certain amount of paperwork when dealing with daily transactions, including balancing books and invoices. Cashiers may also need to run internal checks on gamblers who require credit or to process credit applications for new customers. They may also need to assist with cashing in tips for fellow employees.

It is important that the cashier have good people skills as you will be working with gamblers all day long. Cashiers must be able to satisfy the needs of all players, and be able to handle any negative or hostile situation that may arise. People may get antsy when money is involved, so it is important for cashiers to be able to control the situation and sort out any issues immediately and in the most professional manner. Many gamblers enjoy drinking while playing, therefore cashiers may also have to deal with intoxicated customers. Cashiers must be aware of all the relevant rules and regulations associated with the casino and gaming industry and be able to explain them when the situation arises.

The blood line of the casino

Fourthly, the cage interfaces with virtually every casino department--- for example, transmittal of key forms to the accounting department; involvement with the hard and soft count audit teams; receiving and issuing cashiers banks to casino revenue departments (bar banks, showroom banks, race and sports book banks, hotel front-desk banks, etc.); and working with the security department during the table game fill and credit process.

In some casinos, the cage supports the slot department by providing slot fills, supplying change persons with requested coins, and providing large jackpot payoffs. The cage is also charged with the responsibility of preparing and maintaining countless forms required for sound internal control procedures and safeguarding the casino's assets. Additionally, compliance with requirements and procedures of the bank secrecy act is a critical responsibility of casino cage personnel. However, many casinos locate the cage toward the rear of the casino property and away from customer exits.

Keeping it safe: window cage security

One reason for this is to minimise the chances of a successful cage robbery. A second reason for locating the cage in the rear is the psychological factor. A customer cashing out at the window must walk the length of the casino toward the exit. The temptation of 'one last slot pull' or 'one final play at the table' can decrease the amount of money the customer takes out the front door. A third consideration is the location of the pit or live gaming areas. There are a number of structural possibilities for the cage facade. Metal bars, others by plexiglas or shatterproof windows, protect some cages.

Still, others are 'open' cages with no protective barriers. It all depends on the environment and management's perceived need for physical security. A small cage operation will typically offer two customer service windows and an additional window to service casino, slot, or employee requests. The larger the operation, the more service windows required, but keep in mind that customers do not to stand in long lines to cash their chips. It is better to have too many operational windows and window cage security than too few.

Casino cage operations and cashiers may not be necessary for the future as more and more casinos are now using coinless slot machines, which has made things a lot easier. With no coins to count, things are less likely to go wrong, fewer employees will be needed and there will less room for error. Some slot machines print out a bar-coded voucher instead of coins or cash that can then be cashed out ATM-type machines or at the cashier cage.

The bar-code will indicate a legitimate voucher and is read using a reader, which will reveal the amount the player must be paid. The casino cage is one of the most important and highly functional aspects of a casino and needs to be treated as such. It is important to be respectful and civilised to your cashier at all times. Whenever you visit a casino, make sure to adhere to the rules of the establishment so that everyone can have an enjoyable experience.

From my experience the majority of techs have had some sort of technical background before they got into the profession. Alot of techs that I know started out as slot attendants as well, there are schools but you can get the knowledge from OJT training and it will not cost you money.

As for slot managers, about 60-75% of them come out of the tech side here in the US. The others normally come from up from the ranks of the attendants or have jumped in via school degrees. I worked my way up from ground level as a slot attendant.

It definitely seems like an interesting and what could prove to be an ultimately worthwhile career choice for people looking to get into the industry or even move across from other jobs.

I am going to do a bit of hunting around for info.I may never be seen behind a roulette or blackjack table again

The modern slot machine is becoming more and more modular in its construction. Many of the large slot operations work with a very small number of technical staff who do need advanced qualifications. The day to day cleaning and service on the floor is handled in many cases by technical assistants who are often trained in house.
A good basic knowledge of statistics and the interpretation of the information is one of the basic requirements for those wanting to move into the higher levels of the slots operation. While a manager needs a degree of technical knowledge this does not have to be too extensive as one can employ an expert. Many modern machines have diagnostic software that helps with fault finding and as most components are modular most of the time it is a matter of replacing the faulty module and then sending it to be repaired.
If I were looking to get into a slots operation and working my way up I would do so as an attendant rather than a technician. As an attendant one learns the basic working of the machine and usually performs basic fault finding on the coin and cash handling modules of the machine. In doing these tasks and by paying attention when a technician is working on the machine one picks up the basics needed.

Let`s bring speakers from both sides of the discussion and end day 1 with a panel discussion, where academics meet operators and suppliers. Just to be sure, there is a first-aid kit standing by!

Day 2 will see multiple streams simultaneously. The main conference room is for the slot management stream, a secondary conference room will run a table games management stream and rumour has it that the totally gaming academy will run master classes before, after and during the conference.

The evening programs will be memorable; be it the visit to a local brewery or the visit to olympic`s voodoo casino, be sure the nights will be short.

On friday april 24 our friends from the totally gaming academy will organise three different master classes. Seats for these master classes can be purchased in combination with a delegate pass for COS 2020.

What is the one piece of advice you received which has changed your life? Be who you are and don’t let anyone put you down.

Who, or what, has been your biggest teacher? My mother has been the biggest mentor and the biggest inspiration in my life.

What is your favorite activity in your current position and how often do you get to do it? My favorite part of the job is definitely interacting and conversing with customers. I’ve gotten to know many guests over the years and it’s always a pleasure when they come in and ask for you.

Who is someone you really admire? My late parents are the two people I most admire. My love of reading and crafting came from my mother. My father taught us with hard work and dedication, you can achieve your goals.

What is the one piece of advice you received which has changed your life? You are responsible for your own destiny. The choices you make, the way you treat people, the outlook you have on life, falls solely on your own shoulders.

How many years have you been at borgata? I have been at borgata for just over 16 years. My favorite memory goes back to 2003 and being part of the team that worked at the atlantic city convention center, interviewing applicants to work at borgata.

What qualities do you value in the people with whom you work? I believe that one of the best qualities a person can have is respect towards others. I’ve always believed in treating everyone the same as I’d like to be treated.

How would your 10-year-old self react to what you do for a living? She’d probablly be shocked that I moved from a small town in upstate new york, where I graduated with only 60 people, to south jersey specifically to work in the fast paced environment of atlantic city.

Who is someone you really admire? I admire both my husband and son, who encouraged me to become a successful woman. They were both extremely supportive through the past 40 years, even when it wasn’t popular for women to leave their home to attempt to be successful.

Who, or what, has been your biggest teacher? My father was my biggest teacher. His hard work and dedication to his work and family will stay with me forever.

What qualities do you value in the people with whom you work? Integrity, honesty, devotion, and the eagerness to learn and help others.

What is your favorite activity in your current position and how often do you get to do it? My favorite activity is the interactions with the guests and team members that take place daily. Everyone has a story. You just never know who you will come across and what the experience will be like.

What is your definition of success? My definition is being happy with living on my own terms and expectations. I set a goal and go after it until it’s obtained and if I fail, at least I learned something along the way.

Who, or what, has been your biggest teacher? My biggest teacher has been life! You make plans and they derail. You have hopes and dreams and sometimes they are put on hold or even fall flat. But, I’ve taken the approach of control what you can and everything else will fall into place.

If someone were to play you in a movie, who would you want it to be? I would want it to be my daughter. I aim to raise her much differently than the way I was. It would give her insight into my transformation through life and understanding why I am the way I am.

What is the one piece of advice you received which has changed your life? I was told once to never doubt myself, that I know more than I think. That has pushed me out of my comfort zone more than once and I’ve never regretted it.
