Seeing as rockstar for the past two thursdays have revealed updates on the GTA casino, it’s possible they could continue doing this weekly to build hype.

Alternatively, the GTA makers may leave it a little while longer until they reveal more on the GTA casino.

Either way, it does sound like an update on the GTA 5 casino is coming in the near future - with the first pictures set to be revealed soon.

As mentioned above, there is going to be plenty of new activities and missions to try out over the coming weeks, some of which will offer top prizes.

According to the GTA online tracker account on twitter, tezfunz2, you can win prizes from $200 up to $100,000 from slot machines.

These will be playable via a new currency being added to the game, with funz2 adding: “many have been wondering about the gambling laws, and how rockstar is gonna deal with them.

“from this picture, you can see there's a new currency which appears to be "casino chips". You can earn up to GTA$50,000 or 15,000 RP or 25,000 casino chips.”

The picture mentioned above is from the new casino DLC trailer, showing a prize wheel with many listed prizes.

And while there is going to be plenty of new stuff to do over the coming weeks in GTA online, some gamers may have missed out on a big bonus.

Twitch prime users have had until july 19 to link their social club account so that they claim some big grand theft auto perks.

These included being able to purchase the master penthouse for free in the diamond casino & resort, as well as receive GTA$1.25M and up to 15% extra GTA$ on purchases of shark cash cards.

The bad news is that this deal has now ended and is no longer open to twitch prime users.

The good news is that this is an ongoing partnership, meaning more GTA 5 casino rewards could be announced in the coming weeks.

At the time of writing rockstar hasn’t even acknowledged the casino changes they’ve been subtly making to the game in the past weeks, let alone a release date.

That said we can have a fairly good stab at predicting when they might look to release this latest game-changing update to GTA online.

Firstly, rockstar tend to release new content drops on a thursday. If you look at the past three weeks these updates have normally arrived every thursday and you can continue to go back for weeks on end.

It’s just when rockstar likes to drop new content.

So it’s possible that we could see this new DLC arrive as early as today, but if not we suspect we won’t be waiting too much longer for the content to drop.

It’s been, after all, over 6 months since the games last major expansion, which came with the GTA online: arena war update in mid-december.

Prior to that, we had the after hours update released in july 2018 and before that southern san andreas super sport series in march 2018.

Looking at 2018 on it’s own rockstar rarely went longer than 4 or 5 months before dropping another ‘big’ expansion.

Understandably rockstar has been busy with red dead redemption 2 and red dead online since late 2018. It was only mid may that red dead online officially left it’s ‘beta’ period.

Will GTA online casino update add a new currency?

Playing devils advocate there’s one thing which suggests we might have to wait a little bit longer for this update, and that’s all to do with the potential for new mini-game, a recent red dead online update and microtransactions.

Something gamesrader has eloquently explained in a separate report.

“this news comes shortly after poker and other gambling games were added to red dead online , stirring the pot since the game has microtransactions,” writes ford james on gamesrader.

“only gold bars can be bought with real money however, and gambling in that game uses dollars, which are a separate currency.

“for rockstar to avoid uproar, it’ll need to introduce a second currency to GTA online that can’t be bought with real money, which we haven’t had any sign of yet.

“only time will tell, however, and it’s likely that red dead online’s gambling was used to test the waters for GTA online, which is their big-time cash cow.

We don’t think we’re going to be waiting too much longer for the GTA online casino update to arrive, but it certainly feels like it could be another major expansion to the ever-growing grand theft auto universe.
